Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisites
l  Vacuum hoses and hose connections do not leak.
l  Vacuum hoses are not clogged.
Checking sequence
  W00-10259
–  Release quick fasteners -arrows- and remove engine cover panel.
  E10-10065
–  Remove the vacuum hose -arrow- on the combination valve.
  Note
For improved understanding, it is shown from the rear in the illustration with engine removed.
–  Connect the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to vacuum connection of combination valve.

–  Move ring -1- on hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -B- to select „pressure“.

–  Release quick-fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation.

–  Detach pressure hose -arrow- from secondary air pump motor -V101- and blow into it with light pressure (do not use compressed air).
l  The combination valve should be closed; it should not be possible to blow through the valve.
–  Build up pressure using the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-.
l  The combination valve should open; it should now be possible to blow through the hose.
If the combination valve does not open:
–  Renew combination valve for secondary air system → Chapter.
