Removing and installing coolant pump

Removing and installing coolant pump
Removal:
–
Remove small coolant pipe
→ Chapter
.
–
Remove toothed belt for coolant pump
→ Chapter
.
–
Disconnect electrical connection
-1-
on throttle valve control unit -J338-.
–
Unscrew the bolts
-arrow-
and remove the throttle valve control unit -J338-.
–
Disconnect connector
-1-
from coolant temperature sensor -G62-.
Note
Ignore positions
-2-
and
-arrow-
.
–
Lift retaining clips
-1-
and
-2-
, detach coolant hoses and move them clear to one side.
–
Unscrew bolts
-1 to 5-
.
–
Detach coolant pump from centring pins and pull pump off engine oil cooler.
Note
-Arrow-
can be disregarded.
Installation
l
Tightening torque
→ Chapter
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

Replace gaskets and O-rings.

Lubricate O-rings

with coolant, for coolant refer to
→ Electronic parts catalogue
.

Ensure that the centering bolts are fitted to the engine block and if not, fit them.

Fit connecting piece

into engine oil cooler
-1-
.
–
Push coolant pump
-3-
onto connecting piece and centring pin in cylinder block.
–
Tighten coolant pump bolts
→ Fig.
.
Note
The protective cap
-arrow-
must be removed if a new coolant pump is going to be installed.

Install toothed belt for coolant pump
→ Chapter
.
–
Install throttle valve module -J338-
→ Chapter
.
–
Install small coolant pipe
→ Chapter
.
–
Fill up with coolant
→ Anchor
.
