Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pliers for spring-type clips -VAS 6499- or Pliers -T20174-, see equivalent → Anchor
removing
–  Remove the engine cover / air filter → Chapter.
  W00-10700
–  Dismantle the intake ducting -arrow-.
  A24-10107
–  Loosen all the bolts -arrows-.
  N24-10295
–  Remove the engine cover, taking into account its fastening -arrows-.
  A24-10109
–  Extract the air filter element from the engine cover.
Fitting
  Note
t  Always use a genuine spare part air filter element.
t  The air filter element must be clean.
t  Wenn das Filtergehäuse mit Druckluft gereinigt wird, muss folgendes beachtet werden: um Funktionsstörungen zu vermeiden muss der Luftmassenmesser -G70- mit einem sauberen Tuch abgedeckt werden.
–  Check the air mass gauge -G70- and the air intake ducting → Item for salt residues, dirt and leaves.
–  When fitting the air filter element, ensure that it is placed in the centre of the housing of the bottom filter element.
–  Carefully and without force, place the top air filter element on the bottom element. Ensure that the top air filter element is not inclined on the filter element (check the sealing lip of the element).
Installation is performed in the reverse sequence.
