Sender wheel: removing and installing > < Crankshaft

  Note
For assembly work the engine must be held with the engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095- to the assembly stand → Chapter.
1 - 65 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°) further
q   Replace
q   Continuous screw thread
q   Tighten only up to 65 Nm in order to measure radial play of the crankshaft. Do not retighten.
2 - Bearing cap
q   Bearing cap 1: Pulley side:
q   Bearing shell retaining lugs (cylinder block/bearing cap) must be on the same side.
3 - 10 Nm + further 1/4 (90°)
q   Replace
q   Replace the sensor wheel each time the screws are loosened → Chapter
4 - Needle bearing
q   For vehicles with manual gearbox
q   Press-out and drive in → Chapter
5 - Generator wheel:
q   For engine speed sender -G28-
q   Replace the sender wheel each time the bolts are loosened.
q   Can only be installed in one position. Holes are off-set
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
6 - Crankshaft
q   New axial play: 0.07 - 0.23 mm; Wear limit: 0.30 mm
q   Check radial play with plastigage again, new: 0.017 - 0.037 mm; Wear limit: 0.07 mm
q   Do not rotate crankshaft when checking radial clearance.
q   Crankshaft dimensions → Chapter.
q   Needle bearing: removing and fitting → Chapter
7 - Thrust washers
q   For bearing 3.
8 - Engine block bearing shell
q   With oil groove
q   Classification for ordering spare parts → Anchor
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
9 - Pinions
q   For oil pump drive
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - Bearing shell for bearing cap
q   Without oil groove
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
