Checking compression
  Note
t  If new spark plugs are assembled, the spark plug connections must be greased with the lubricating paste -G 052 141 A2-. This prevents the sealing hose of the spark plug connections from sticking to the spark plug. The lubricating paste must be distributed when the spark plug connections are fitted to the spark plugs → Fig..
t  New spark plug cables are already delivered lubricated.

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Spanner -3122B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Compression tester -VAG 1763-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T10112A-, see equivalent → Anchor

Test condition
l  Engine oil temperature at least. 30 ℃

Operation process
–  Remove the spark plug connections -arrows- using an extractor -T10112A-.
–  Unscrew the spark plugs using spark plug spanner -3122B-.
–  Remove the fuse for the fuel pump control unit from the fuse holder. Fuse installation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Check compression with the compression tester -VAG 1763-.
  Note
See relevant test unit operating instructions for instructions on how to use test unit.
–  Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression values:
New: 10 - 15 bar
Wear limit: 7 bar
Max. deviation allowed between both cylinders: 3 bar
–  Tighten spark plugs with spark plug spanner -3122B- and tighten to 25 Nm.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
–  Consult fault memory; if necessary, repair any faults and then erase fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051„guided fault finding“
If the fault memory has been erased, you must generate the readiness code again.
