Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10380
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
Removing
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter

–  Disconnect the coolant hoses on the coolant pipe -1- and unscrew the pipe on the camshaft casing and on the engine block from below.

–  Unplug electrical connection -1- from the coolant temperature sender -G62-.
–  Using the hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-, remove the hoses from the connection supports -4-.
–  Remove the coolant hoses -3- using the hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-.
–  Press the tab -2-.
–  Remove the bolts -5- and pull the thermostat casing outwards.
Installing
Install in reverse order
–  Fill up coolant → Chapter.
