Removing and installing main catalytic converter with exhaust pipe t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor t  Tightening torques → Anchor Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor. t  Torque wrench -VAG 1410-, see equivalent → Anchor. Removing –  Remove the earth wire of the battery when the ignition is turned off and lay to the side.

–  Lift the engine cover by the positions -1- and push the cover forwards in the direction of the -arrow-.

–  Unscrew the screws -arrow- of the heat protection plate above the exhaust turbocharger.

–  Unscrew the securing bolts -arrows- and remove the engine soundproofing..

–  Separate both plug connectors -arrows- from the Lambda probe to the catalytic converter -G130- and the Lambda probe -G39-.

–  Remove the wiring harness of the alternator, the Lambda sensor to the catalytic converter -G130- and the Lambda sensor -G39- from their catches -arrows-.

–  Release the spring-type hose clips -1- and -3- from the supercharger hose using the hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-. –  Unscrew the screw -2- from the support of the exhaust manifold and remove it. –  Unscrew the screws -5- of the catalytic converter -6-.

–  Unscrew securing nuts on turbocharger -arrows-. –  Separate the support elements for supporting the exhaust system from their supports → Item

–  Loosen securing nuts for clamping sleeve -arrows- and slide clamping sleeves backwards. –  Remove catalytic converter with front silencer downwards. Installing Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. –  Leaks on the exhaust system: check → Chapter Tightening torques
