  Note
To carry out this work it is necessary to disconnect battery earth strap. The vehicle should be checked for a fitted radio. If necessary, obtain the anti-theft code for the radio first.
–  Observe the security precautions before beginning removal → Chapter.
–  With the ignition switched off disconnect battery earth strap.
Commercial vehicles
–  Separate partially the forward part of the carpet in the load bay.
   
–  Remove the floor protection plates -3-.
–  Remove the reinforcement beam.
Kombi versions
–  Move rear seat forward.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Move rear seat forward.
–  Remove the cover from the fuel supply unit.

–  Separate the connector -1-.
–  Remove the feed and return tubes -4- and -3- going to the gallery pipe.
–  Loosen the flexible breather tube -5-.
  WARNING
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure. Before removing fuel hose connections wrap a cloth around the connection to be separated. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose from connection.
–  Empty the fuel tank.

–  Remove the union strap from the bodywork -1-.
–  Remove all of the attachments from the rear part of the exhaust system -2-. Then lower the exhaust system a little, and secure it to the bodywork.
–  Remove the right back wheel.
–  Clean around the fuel inlet mouth.
–  Remove the fuel inlet funnel plug and remove the dust cover.
–  Separate the fuel inlet funnel from the bodywork.
–  Remove the attachment bolts and belt from the fuel tank supporting it using the elevator for engine and gearbox -SAT 1040-.

–  Extract the inlet funnel from its attachment to the fuel tank, to this the dust-guard and the fuel lines must be separated.
  Note
When separating the fuel inlet funnel, take special care not to damage the seals inside the fuel tank.
–  Remove the fuel tank along with the thermal protection plate.
