Removing and installing radiator, radiator fan -V7- and radiator fan 2 -V177-

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Refractometer -T10007-

t	Hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-

t	Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

Removal: –  Remove engine splash guard at bottom. –  Remove front right and left wheel housing moulding → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.66

–  Push securing clip at charge air cooler in direction of -arrow- and pull hose -arrow- off. –  Also remove second hose from charge air cooler.

–  Disconnect connector -1-. –  Now drain coolant. Pull off hose -2-.

–  Release retaining clip and pull connection -arrow- off radiator. –  Pull the connection from bottom of radiator. –  Unclip the coolant hose from the cowling. –  Bring lock carrier into service position: → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.50

–  Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- and remove cowling upwards together with the radiator fans.

–  Disconnect electrical connector -1- and lay lines aside. –  Unscrew nuts -arrows- and remove fan.

–  Unscrew securing bolt -arrow-.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove radiator downwards.   Note To prevent damage to condenser or to refrigerant lines and hoses, ensure that lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent. –  Unbolt retaining clamps for refrigerant lines. –  Unbolt condenser from radiator and secure to lock carrier. Installation Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: Filling with new coolant → Chapter. –  Electrical connections and cable layout: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations Tightening torques:
