Take the active carbon filter out upwards with hoses connected and place to side.

Before removing the ribbed belt, mark its running direction with chalk or with a felt tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause it to rupture.

To slacken the Poly-V belt, turn the tensioner in the direction of the -arrow-.

Take off poly V-belt.

Remove separation plate -2- and tensioner -1- for the ribbed belt.

Remove the timing belt only from the cogwheel of the camshaft → Chapter .

Remove centre notched belt guard -arrows-.

Pulley and lower notched belt guard need not to be removed.

The notched belt should be left in position on the crankshaft sprocket.

Before removing the coolant pump cover notched belt with a cloth to protect against coolant.

Unscrew securing bolts -1- of the coolant pump and take coolant pump -2- off.

Detach O-ring -3-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Renew O-ring.

Clean and smooth down sealing surface for O-ring as required.

Moisten new O-ring -3- with coolant additive »G12+«.
