Checking sequence
–  Remove rear seat → bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72 .
–  Loosen the floor cover below the seats and tip this to rear.

–  Remove the protection elements from fuel delivery unit (depending on the version).

–  Release retainers -arrows- at cover for sealing flange.

–  Carefully release electrical connector -arrow- of sealing flange and disconnect.

–  Connect the manual multimeter -VAG 1526E- and measure the resistance between contacts-2- and -3-.

Fuel gauge senders -G-Approx. 270 ΩApprox. 70 Ω

  Note
t  The measurement value 0 Ω indicates a short circuit; the value ∞ Ω indicates an open circuit is at hand.
t  To test the maximum and minimum resistance values for „tank full“ and „tank empty“, remove the fuel delivery unit → Chapter and move the sender float all the way to its top or bottom position.
When the fuel gauge sender -G-is removed, and due to the large floater range of movement, the following values are obtained:

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
–  Fit rear seat → bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.
