General notes on injection
t  Fuel hoses in engine compartment must be secured only with spring type clips (as supplied by the factory). The use of clamp or screw-type clips is not permissible.
t  The battery should only be disconnected with the ignition switched off. If a coded radio is installed, before disconnecting the battery, request the anti-theft coding first.
  WARNING
Note the precautionary instructions for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27
t  The engine control unit has a self-diagnosis capability.
t  For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary
t  Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and damage the Lambda probe.
t  If the fuel system has been opened it must be vented before starting the engine → Chapter.
t  If after the fault location, repair or testing of components, the engine only starts for a short time and then stalls, this may be because the immobiliser has blocked the engine control unit. In this case, consult the fault memory → Chapter and adjust the control unit if necessary → Chapter.
t  Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control unit and stored. The event memory should therefore be read-out and, if necessary, erased after completing the tests and any repair work that may be required → Chapter.
t  Vehicles with an airbag are fitted with a crash/fuel shut-off. It reduces the danger of a fire in a crash as the fuel pump is switched off via the fuel pump relay.
t  When opening the driver's door, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds to build-up pressure in the fuel system. By this the starting behaviour is improved.
t  Safety precautions → Chapter.
t  Rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
t  Technical data → Chapter.
