t  For safety reasons, remove fuse No. 41 from fuse holder before opening the fuel system as the fuel pump can be activated by the driver's door contact switch.
  Caution
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure Before loosening the fuel line connections, place a clean cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
When removing and fitting the fuel gauge sender or the fuel pump (fuel supply unit), when the fuel tank is full, ensure the following:
t  Before commencing work, switch on exhaust extraction system and place an extraction hose close to the sender opening in the fuel tank to extract escaping fuel fumes.
t  If no exhaust extraction system is available, a radial fan (as long as motor is not in air flow) with a displacement greater than 15 m3/h can be used.
t  Avoid skin contact with fuel, wear fuel-resistant gloves!
