Airtight seal of the inlet system: verification (air filter) Test with engine leak detector spray -G 001 800 A1- Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051-

t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/3-   Note! t  The vacuum in the intake system will cause the leak detector spray to be drawn in with the unmetered air. The leak detector spray reduces the flammability of the mixture. This leads to a drop in engine speed and to a change of Lambda probe reading. t  The safety precautions listed on the container must be adhered to. Verification process –  Connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051- as follows:

–  Connect the cable -VAS 5051/3- to the diagnostic connection. –  Start engine and run at idling speed. Select operating mode: –  Push the button on the -VAS 5051- screen “Vehicle self-diagnosis”. Select vehicle system: –  Press briefly on the screen, the selection “01 – Engine electronics”. The control unit identification and coding are indicated on the display –  Briefly press the key ►. Select diagnostic function

Indicated on -VAS 5051- –  Press briefly on the screen -1- the diagnostic function “08 – Read measurement block”.

Indicated on -VAS 5051- 1 -  Enter value group number Max. value = 255 –  Input on the keyboard -2-“001” for the “value group number 001” and confirm by pressing briefly the key Q.

Indicated on -VAS 5051- –  Memorise the engine speed displayed in field -1-. –  Systematically spray parts of the intake system with engine leak detector spray. If the engine speed decreases: –  Check sprayed areas of intake system for leaks and rectify if necessary. –  Finalise the function “08 - Read measurement block values” pushing the key < briefly twice.

Indicated on -VAS 5051- –  Press briefly on the selection -1- diagnostic function “06 - End data transmission”. –  Switch ignition off.
