Throttle valve control unit -J338-: verification
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526A- or multimeter -V.A.G 1715-
t  Auxiliary measurement tool set -V.A.G 1594A- or -V.A.G 1594C-
t  Double connection engine testing unit -V.A.G 1598/31- (AZL engines) or -V.A.G 1598/22- (BBX engines)
t  Current flow diagrams

Components of the throttle control unit -J338-:
t  Throttle control -G186-
t  Angle 1 sender for the throttle valve control unit -G187-
t  Angle 2 sender for the throttle valve control unit -G188-
  Note!
When replacing the throttle control unit, it is obligatory to connect a new control unit to the engine control unit: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
Test conditions
l  Throttle valve not damaged or dirty.
Verification process
   
–  Extract the 6 pin connector from the throttle valve control unit -arrow-.
  E24-0220
–  Measure the operation resistance of the throttle valve between the following contacts:
  E24-0221
Connector, contactConnector, contact

Specification: 1.0 … 5,0 Ω

If the ideal value is not measured:
–  Replace the throttle valve control unit -J338-.
If the specification is obtained:
–  Test the voltage supply to the throttle valve control unit and the cables to the control unit → Chapter.
If the voltage supply and wiring is OK:
–  Replace engine control unit: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
