Cables and components with the double connection engine testerV.A.G 1598/22 or V.A.G 1598/31: verification
Cables and components with the double connection engine tester -V.A.G 1598/22- or -V.A.G 1598/31-: verification
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/22-
  W00-0514
t  Double connector engine tester -V.A.G 1598/31-
  Note!
t  The double connection engine tester -V.A.G 1598/22- is used in BBX engines. It is not possible to connect it at the same time as the engine control unit, for this reason, verifications cannot be carried out with the engine running.
t  The double connection engine tester -V.A.G 1598/31- is used in AZL engines. This is designed so that it may be connected simultaneously to the wiring harness going to the engine control unit and to the control unit.
t  The advantages of this are that the engine control unit may function normally with the engine tester connected (for example, signal measurement with the engine running).
t  The need to additionally connect the engine control unit to the test box is indicated in the corresponding test processes.
t  Always use the auxiliary measurement set -V.A.G 1594 A- or -V.A.G 1594 C- to connect measurement equipment (for example: diode lamp -V.A.G 1527 B-, manual multimetre -V.A.G 1526 A-, etc.).
t  The connector contact number and the test box connection number coincide.
Verification process
–  Switch ignition off.
–  Loosen the connectors and separate them from the control unit.
  W00-0943
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to the wiring harness connectors. The earth connection clip for the engine tester should be connected to the negative (-) terminal of the battery (for BBX engines, connect the engine tester -V.A.G 1598/22- to the cable harness).
  Caution
To avoid problems with the electronic components, before connection of the measurement cables, select the correct measurement margins and fulfil test conditions.
  Note!
t  After reconnecting the engine control unit, the following operations must be carried out:
t  Carry out the adjustment of the throttle control unit -J338-: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
t  Interrogate fault memory and erase if necessary → Chapter.
t  If the fault memory is erased, it will be necessary to generate the readiness code: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
