Camshaft seal: removing and fitting
t  Removing → Anchor

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Extractor -T20119A-

t  Counterhold tool -T20018B-
Removing
  Note
t  The frame surfaces must not be reworked → Item .
t  The camshaft bearings are integrated into the frame. Before removing the frame, the notched belt must be released.
t  After removing the frame, replace the seal → Item and the enclosure cap → Item.
–  Dismount the variable timing → Chapter.
–  Remove toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Loosen the tension roller and remove the notched belt from the camshaft sprocket.

–  Loosen camshaft sprocket bolt, using the counterhold -T20018B-.

–  Remove the sprocket from the camshaft using the extractor -T20119A-, the 3 hooks of the extractor -T20119A- should be inserted in the intermediate holes of lines 2 and 5.

–  Remove rear notched belt guard from the cylinder head -arrows-.

–  Release the frame fastening bolts uniformly, from the outside towards the inside (in reverse order to that shown in the figure)
–  Carefully remove the frame and place on a clean surface.

–  Remove any remaining sealant
–  Check that neither dust nor sealant remains have entered the cylinder head.
Installing
  Note
t  Remove any remaining oil or grease on the seal surfaces.
t  When assembling, the pistons should not be in top dead centre.
t  Check that all the hydraulic tappets are correctly positioned with respect to their respective valves.
–  Oil the camshaft running surfaces.
  N15-10105
–  Carefully fit the camshafts on their respective bearings. The cams -A-, of cylinder 4 and the notches -arrows- should be aligned.

–  Apply a line of silicon sealant, as shown in the figure, to the clean surface of the frame seal.
  Note
t  The line of sealant should not be too thick. Remove excess sealant with a cloth that does not fray.
t  Ensure that the sealant is applied in a continuous and uninterrupted manner, as the sealant starts to harden as soon as it comes into contact with the seal surface.
t  Check that the sealant is not out-of-date.

–  Fit the frame so that it passes in front of the Exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18--arrow-.
  N15-10101
–  Tighten the frame fastening bolts slightly, from the inside towards the outside (as shown in the figure)
–  Tighten the frame fastening bolts to the prescribed torque → Item, from the inside towards the outside (as shown in the figure).
  N15-10103
–  Fit rear notched belt guard from the cylinder head -arrows-.
–  Insert the locking cap → Item.
–  Fit the camshaft seal → Chapter.
–  Install toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Fit the variable timing → Chapter.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
