q   The oil level must not be above the MAX mark. - Risk of damage to the catalytic converter!

q   If the oil pump is fitted with the balance shaft assembly, it is usually necessary to replace the intermediate plate.
q   Before fitting check that the dowel pegs are fitted → Item
7 - 15 Nm +1/4 turn further (90°)

q   Observe the different bolt sizes → Fig.

9 - Oil sump
q   Clean sealing surface before fitting.
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   If the oil sump is removed, it is necessary to replace the intermediate plate → Item.

12 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm
q   With attached seal.
q   replace
13 - Oil pump chain sprocket:
q   Note fitting position:
q   Sprocket can only be fitted on oil pump shaft in one position.
q   Crankshaft chain sprocket: replacing → Chapter
14 - 10 Nm

q   Depending on version
q   removing and installing → Fig.
q   check → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051

q   replace
q   Lubricate before installing
18 - 20 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
19 - Chain guard
20 - Oil pump and balance shaft chain
q   Before removing mark the direction of rotation with a coloured marker pen
21 - Sealing flange with sealing ring
q   This must be located correctly on the dowel sleeves
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   For removing and installing, detach the oil sump → Chapter
q   If the oil sump is removed, it is necessary to replace the intermediate plate → Item.
q   Crankshaft oil seal (pulley side): replacement → Chapter

1 - „max.“Mark
2 - mark „min.“
a - do not top up oil
b - Oil can be topped up Check that after adding the oil level, it does not exceed area -a-.
c - Oil must be added. It will be sufficient when the oil level reaches area -b- (striped area).

q   Before removing mark the direction of rotation with a coloured marker pen
3 - Dowel sleeves
4 - Oil pump with balance shaft assembly
q   For pressure relief valve, approx. 12 bar
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   If the oil pump is fitted with the balance shaft assembly, it is usually necessary to replace the intermediate plate.
q   Before fitting check that the dowel pegs are fitted → Item
5 - 3 Nm
q   before fitting, apply sealant
6 - Cap
q   Prevents engine oil from foaming
7 - Coupling
q   With gasket
8 - 9 Nm

q   Clean strainer if soiled.

q   replace
12 - 15 Nm +1/4 turn further (90°)

q   The mark should be visible

q   Pretension ready for assembly → Chapter

q   For crankcase ventilation.

q   removing and installing → Chapter
4 - Seal

q   1.4 bar, black
