Removing
–  Removing the fuel rail (common channel) → Chapter.
–  Pull all connectors off injectors.
  Note
t  It is possible that the injectors may be stuck in the cylinder head. In the event, there are special tools available, which should be used as described below:
t  To remove the injectors and replace the (Teflon) sealing ring of the combustion chamber, the case with the special tool Extractor -T10133- is required.

Illustration shows injector when removed. The following pages describe how to dismount the injector.
1 - Radial compensation, replace if damaged
2 - Sealing ring for the combustion chamber (Teflon) : replace; when fitting, the ring should not be lubricated at all.
3 - Injector connection element
4 - Spacer ring (replace if damaged)
5 - O-ring (replace, moisten slightly with clean engine oil when fitting)
6 - Support seal (the fuel rail uses the support ring to obtain the necessary force to keep the injector still in the cylinder head).
  Note
When the injector is installed, the radial play offset -Pos. 1 of the figure above- is retained by the support ring -6-. To remove the injector, the support ring should be removed in order to insert the extractor -T10133/2- in the injector connecting element -Pos. 3 of the figure above-.

–  Using a screwdriver, bend the stems of the radial compensation to one side (it is very easy to damage the radial compensation by breaking the stems in the process) and remove the support seal from the injector.
  A24-0587
–  Bolt the impact wrench of the extractor -T10133/3--1- with the extractor -T10133/2--2-. Next, insert the extractor -T10133/2- in the injector connection element and carefully remove the injector. When doing so, the radial compensation is easily damaged (the stems break). It should be replaced when the injector is refitted.
Installing
Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:
  A24-0588
–  Thoroughly clean, using the nylon brush supplied, the openings of the high pressure injectors in the cylinder block before refitting the injector -T10133/4-.
  Note
An open intake valve may block the cleaning operation. In this case, turn the engine by hand using a wrench on the crankshaft.
  A24-0589
–  Replace the support ring-1- in the injector and fit the radial compensation-2- in the support ring.
  A24-0590
–  Ensure that the injectors are correctly positioned.
  N24-10038
–  Insert the injector as far as possible into its hole in the cylinder block, using the assembly awl -T10133/9--1-. Ensure that the injectors are fitted in the correct position on the cylinder block.
–  Coat the high pressure injector O-rings with clean engine oil; this makes it easier to insert them onto the fuel rail.
–  Renew all seals.
