Test process
   
–  Remove the camshaft housing cover -arrows-.
  E15-0065
–  Detach the 3-contacts connector from the Hall sender -arrow-.
  N28-0121
–  To test the voltage, connect the multimeter to contacts 1 (positive) and 3 (earth) of the connector at the Hall sender, using the auxiliary leads of the -V.A.G. 1594 A-.
–  Switch on the ignition. Target value: 4.5 V min
–  Switch off the ignition.
If there is no voltage:
  N28-0131
–  Connect the test box -V.A.G. 1598/31- to the wiring harness of the control unit, without connecting the engine control unit.
  N24-0943
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between the test box and the triple connector, following the wiring diagram. Contact 1+female contact 98 Contact 2+female contact 86 Contact 3+female contact 108 Wire resistance: 1.5 Ω max.
–  Also test the wiring for short circuits between wires. Target value: ∞ Ω
If no wiring fault is detected and there is voltage between contacts 1 + 3:
–  Replace the Hall sender -G40- → Item
–  If no wiring fault is detected and there is no voltage between contacts 1 + 3:
–  Replace the engine control unit → Anchor
