Injection system components: removing and fitting
1 - Motronic control unit -J220-*
q   Location → Chapter, synoptic chart of the engine compartment
q   For injection system, lambda regulation, activated charcoal filter solenoid valve -N80-, knock control, ignition and self-diagnosis
q   Test the voltage supply → Chapter
q   How to proceed after an interruption in voltage supply → Chapter
q   Replace → Chapter
q   Basic settings must be carried out in the event of replacement → Chapter
q   In the event of replacement, adapt the engine control unit to the electronic immobiliser → Chapter
2 - Fixing mark
3 - 10 Nm
4 - Supply hose
q   Black, with white mark
q   Immobilise with elastic strip clamps
q   Check for firm seating
q   Comes from the fuel filter: → Rep. Gr.20.
5 - Return hose
q   Black, with blue mark
q   Immobilise with elastic strip clamps
q   Check for firm seating
q   Goes to the fuel transport unit in the tank: → Rep. Gr.20.
6 - Wire guide
q   Clipped on the fuel distributor
7 - Fixing clip
q   Check the model
8 - Connector
q   Black, 2-pin
q   For injector (-N30-...N33)
9 - Connector

q   For throttle valve drive unit -J338-

19 - Connector
q   For post-catalyst lambda probe -G130- and lambda probe heating -Z29-
q   Black, 4-pin
q   Contacts 3 and 4, gold
20 - Post-catalyst lambda probe 2 -G130-*, 50 Nm
q   Location → Chapter, engine compartment synoptic chart
q   Grease the thread with -G 052 112 A3- only. The. -G 052 112 A3- must not get into the grooves in the probe housing
q   Remove and fit with ring spanner -U-40080-
q   Probe heating voltage supply via fuel pump relay -J17-
q   Test the post-catalyst lambda heating → Chapter
q   Test the post-catalyst lambda probe and lambda regulation → Chapter
21 - Pre-catalyst lambda probe 1 -G39-*, 50 Nm
q   Location → Chapter, engine compartment synoptic chart
q   Grease the thread with -G 052 112 A3- only. The. -G 052 112 A3- must not get into the grooves in the probe housing
q   Remove and fit with ring spanner -U-40080-
q   Probe heating voltage supply via fuel pump relay -J17-
q   Test the pre-catalyst lambda probe heating → Chapter
q   Test the pre-catalyst lambda probe and lambda regulation → Chapter
q   Test the ageing of lambda probe 1 → Chapter
22 - Connector
q   For pre-catalyst lambda probe 1 -G39- and lambda probe heating -Z19-
q   Black, 6-pin
q   Gold contacts
23 - Seal
q   Replace
24 - Thermostat housing
25 - Clip
q   Check for firm seating
26 - O-ring
q   Replace if worn
27 - Connector
q   Black, 4-pin
q   For the coolant temperature sender -G62- and coolant temperature indicator sender -G2-
28 - Coolant temperature sender -G62-*
q   Green

q   Before removing, reduce the coolant system pressure
q   Resistance values between contacts 3 + 4 → Fig.
q   Test → Chapter

q   Before removing, reduce the coolant system pressure
30 - Guide line
q   For the oil dipstick
31 - 6 Nm
32 - Deaeration line
q   Comes from the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve -N80-: → Rep. Gr.20.
33 - Connector
q   Unplug or plug in the connector with the ignition off
