Clutch pedal senderF36 checking
Clutch pedal sender -F36- checking
The clutch pedal switch -F36- informs the control unit about the clutch status. In this way the engine does not produce any jerking when pressing clutch, and it prevents the revs. rising when declutching when the cruise control system is activated.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand multimete -V.A.G 1526A- or multimeter -V.A.G 1715-
t  Fault reader -V.A.G 1551- or vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3B-
t  Auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594A- or -V.A.G 1594C-
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/18A-
t  Current flow diagram

Test sequence
–  Connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- (V.A.G 1552) and select engine electronics control unit with the “address code” 01. When doing so the engine must be idling. (Fault reader: Connecting and selecting the engine electronics control unit → Chapter.)
   
Indicated on display:
–  Press keys 0 and 8 for the function “Read measured value block” and confirm entry with Q-key.

Indicated on display:
–  Press keys 0, 0 and 6 for “Value group number 6” and confirm entry with Q-key.
–  Observe figure displayed in display zone 2.

Specification: 0 0 0
–  Depress the clutch pedal. The left-hand digit should change to 1.

If the specifications are not attained:
–  Press the →-key.
–  Press keys 0 and 6 for the “End data transfer” function and confirm input with the Q-key.
–  Switch ignition off.

–  Pull the connector off the clutch pedal switch -1-.
–  Test resistance in switchs contacts.Specification. Clutch not pressed: 10 Ω max. Clutch pressed: ∞ Ω
If the specifications are not attained:
–  Renew clutch pedal switch -F36-.
If the specifications are obtained:
  N23-0146
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/18- to control unit wiring harness.
  V29-0062
–  Check wiring for open circuit between test box and connector using current flow diagram. Contact 1 + socket 33. Contact 2 + socket 17. Wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ω max.
–  Additionally, check wires for shorts to one another, to vehicle earth or to battery positive.Specification: ∞Ω
If no wiring fault is detected:
–  Replace diesel direct injection control unit -J248- → Chapter.
