Emergency release of gear selection mechanism from position “P” |
The Electro-magnet for locking the selector lever -N110- locks the selector lever in the position “P”. The selector lever may only be taken out of position “P” if, with the ignition and/or the starter motor connected, the brake pedal is kept depressed and the button on the selector lever handle is pressed in; see Gear selection mechanism: checking → Chapter. |
If there are faults in the supply voltage of the solenoid for the selector lever locking (flat battery or defective fuse), or if the solenoid is faulty, the selector lever can not be taken out of position “P”, that is, the vehicle cannot be moved because the parking lock is engaged. |
If the selector lever can not be taken out of position “P” in spite of having carried out the fault location, it is possible to proceed to the emergency solenoid release. If the selector lever returns to position “P”, it will again be locked in “P”. |
