Selector lever cable: verification and adjustment
Selector lever cable: verification and adjustment
Checking
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet2.
–  Remove the air filter housing, the air hose and the conduit → Rep. Gr.24 and → Rep. Gr.23.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “P”.
   
–  Press the safety washer -A- upwards and remove by turning clockwise.
–  Disengage the selector lever cable from the selector rod shaft, following the direction indicated by the arrow and place above.
–  Do not loosen the bolt -B-.
–  Position the selector lever cable so that the end may be freely moved.
t  Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable
–  Shift the selector lever from “P” to “S”.
–  Check the protective cover for damage, on the front section of the selector lever cable, replacing the cable if necessary.
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “P”.
l  The gear selection mechanism and the selector lever cable should not be hard when changing gear; if necessary, replace the selector lever cable or repair the gear selector mechanism → Chapter.

–  Carefully insert the selector lever cable into the selector rod shaft, -in the opposite direction to that shown by the arrow-.
–  Fit the safety washer -A- and lock downwards.
