Base support of steering column switch: Removing and installing
  Caution
The removal and installation of components belonging to the steering column switch must be carried out in a specific order → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Angle hand drill
   
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-
Removing:
  Note

For removing the base support of steering column combined switch, the steering column combined switch → Chapter-2- must be removed and the shear bolts -1- must be drilled-out For the future installation, new shear bolts → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA) will be required
  Caution
t  Before drilling out the shearing bolts, it is absolutely necessary to remove all components fixed to the base support beforehand.
t  The chippings being spun-out during the drilling work may reach the bordering components and cause damage and / or an abnormal function.
t  Follow the specified sequence for removing the combined steering column switch:
  Caution
The instructions described in the repair manual for disconnecting and connecting the battery must be followed → Chapter.
Removing:
–  Disconnect battery . → Chapter
–  Remove all components fixed to the base plate according to the defined sequence → Chapter.
After removing all components fixed to the base plate, the base plate can be removed.
  E94-10401
–  Drill-out the shearing bolts -1- from the steering lock housing -3-.
  Note
Bolts M8 -1-, core diameter 6.8 mm
–  Remove the steering lock housing -3- and the base support of the combined steering column switch -2- to the rear.
–  Remove the steering lock housing from the base support of the combined steering column switch.
Installation:
  N94-11854
–  Insert the steering lock housing -3- and the base support of the combined steering column switch -2-.
–  Insert the steering column combined switch -E595- onto the base support of steering column combined switch until it clicks into place.
–  Position the pre-assembled unit comprising steering lock housing, the base support and steering column combined switch -E595- straight in until the end of the steering column and align to the threaded boreholes.
–  Screw the steering lock housing to the steering column -3- using the new shear bolts -1-.
–  Evenly tighten shear bolts -1- until bolt heads shear off.
–  Install all parts in reverse order of removal.
