Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrenches -SAT 8010-
  L00-10226
t  Dowel pin -T20167-
Removing:
  Caution
The instructions in the repair manual for disconnecting and connecting the battery must be followed → Chapter.
–  Disconnect battery → Chapter.

–  Remove the engine cover, pulling upwards -arrows A- and forwards -arrow B-.

–  Disconnect the DF cable connector-1- and remove the protection -2-.

–  Remove cable B+ -arrow- on the alternator.
  Caution
Before removing the poly V belt, mark the direction of rotation on the top surface. Note the direction of rotation and the assembly position when fitting the belt. If the belt is fitted against the direction of rotation or in the inverse position, the belt will deteriorate.

–  Move the tension roller with a 16 e/c ring spanner in -the direction of the arrow- until the tension device can be locked with the pin -T20167-.
–  Remove the ribbed belt.

–  Remove the bolts attaching the alternator -arrows-.

–  Unscrew the cable clip -arrow- on the back of the alternator.
–  Remove the alternator.
Fitting:
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
  Caution
t  When fitting used poly V belts, check the direction of rotation marked on the belt before removing them.
t  Ensure, before installing poly-V belt, that all the units (alternator, air conditioning compressor) are secured correctly.
t  When fitting the belt, check that the pulleys are correctly positioned.

–  Push out the threaded bushes -A- about 4 mm in the direction of the arrow, from the body of the alternator.

–  Fit the cable clamp -arrow- onto the rear of the alternator into the 3 O'clock position.
–  Tighten the fastening bolts or nuts to the torques shown → Chapter .
  Caution
The instructions in the repair manual for disconnecting and connecting the battery must be followed → Chapter.
–  Connect battery → Chapter.
–  Start the engine and check the belt.
