Primary locking device with flat connector systems Checking sequence   Note If necessary, any housing catches in place (secondary locking mechanisms) must be released or removed prior to disengaging the contacts using the prescribed tool → Chapter.

Flat connector with one locking tab: –  Insert the corresponding release tool into the release duct in the connector housing. –  Take hold of connector at wire and press it slightly into connector housing -arrow-.   Note Pressing the contact towards the connector housing causes the retainer tab of the contact to be lifted off the housing shoulder, enabling it to be released with the release tool.

–  At the same time press the release tool towards the connector housing -arrow- and remove the released contact. –  After the contact has been removed from the connector housing, remove the release tool.

Flat connector system with two insert tongue –  Insert the corresponding release tool into the release duct in the connector housing. –  Hold the contact on the cable and insert it as far as possible into the connector housing -arrow-.   Note Pressing the contact towards the connector housing causes the retainer tabs of the contact to be lifted off the housing shoulder, enabling them to be released with the release tool.

–  At the same time press the release tool towards the connector housing -arrow- and remove the released contact. –  After the contact has been removed from the connector housing, remove the release tool.

Asymmetrical: –  Insert the corresponding release tool into the release duct in the connector housing. –  Take hold of connector at wire and press it slightly into connector housing -arrow-.   Note Pressing the contact towards the connector housing causes the retainer tabs of the contact to be lifted off the housing shoulder, enabling them to be released with the release tool.

–  At the same time press the release tool towards the connector housing -arrow- and remove the released contact. –  After the contact has been removed from the connector housing, remove the release tool.
