Removing and installing the power-assisted steering sensorG250 (TRW)
Removing and installing the power-assisted steering sensor -G250- (TRW)

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS-
  Note
Pay attention to the measures after re-connecting the battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
Removing:
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
In order to facilitate an easier access, if necessary remove air filter → Engine; Rep. gr.24 (petrol engines) or → Engine; Rep. gr.23 (diesel engines).
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Unscrew the front left wheel.
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. gr.50.
–  Remove the front left wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. gr.66.
  Note
Power-assisted steering sensor -G250- TRW has a sensor adapter cable.
   
Power-assisted steering sensor -G250- TRW has an adapter cable.
–  Disconnect adapter cable -2- from power-assisted steering sensor -G250- (-4-).
–  Release screws -1-.
–  Pull the power-assisted steering sensor -G250- (-4-) with seal -3- out of the power-steering gear.

–  Unhook wiring of power-assisted steering sensor -G250- along the whole wiring length from the brackets (part of the wiring see -arrows-).

–  Remove wiring of power-assisted steering sensor -1- from the spacer holder -arrow-.
–  Remove left shock absorber cover → Body Work; Rep. gr.63; or left fog light → Electrical System; Rep. gr.94.
  Note
Due to its cramped construction, slacken partially (unhook) the engine pump aggregate, in order to remove the sensor wiring.

–  Slacken partially (unhook) the engine pump aggregate by removing the screws -arrows-.
  S48-0319
–  Disconnect plugs -arrow- from engine pump aggregate.
–  Remove wiring of power-assisted steering sensor.
Installing:
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
–  Use new seal for power-assisted steering sensor -G250-!
–  Attach wiring of power-assisted steering sensor along the whole wiring length to the brackets.
–  Fasten wiring of power-steering sensor to spacer holder.
–  Tighten engine pump aggregate to body.
–  Install left shock absorber cover → Body Work; Rep. gr.63; or left fog light → Electrical System; Rep. gr.94.
  Note
t  If necessary install battery and battery tray „“ → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
t  Then if necessary install air filter → Engine; Rep. gr.24 (petrol engines) or → Engine; Rep. gr.23 (diesel engines).
t  Pay attention to the measures after re-connecting the battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
–  Connect battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
–  Interrogate fault memory or eliminate fault → Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Tightening torques:
power-assisted steering sensor -G250- to power-assisted steering gear TRW6 Nm
Bracket for engine pump aggregate to body20 Nm + 90°
Wheel bolts → Chapter
