Disc Brake Rotor - Resurfacing Information

ALL 1983 THROUGH 1985 SUBARU VEHICLE           DATE 01-31-85

SUBJECT:

BRAKE ROTOR RESURFACING

Please be advised that resurfacing of brake rotors is considered an acceptable procedure for warranty repair when performed by an authorized Subaru
Dealer, using the following guidelines.

NOTE:

This policy does not apply in an area where state or local law prohibits brake rotor resurfacing. State or local laws regulating rotor resurfacing
must be adhered to when servicing a Subaru vehicle.

Resurfacing of a brake rotor to a thickness less than the usable limit, as noted in the applicable Subaru Service Manual, is not an acceptable repair.

For your information, the usable limits are as below:

Because of the various types of brake resurfacing equipment available, we recommend that each Dealer become completely familiar with their respective
unit and its operational characteristics and procedures.

Subaru brake rotors must be resurfaced within the run out/parallelism tolerances below, to ensure satisfactory results.
