Wiper Motor: Service and Repair
EXC. XT COUPE
Front
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable and motor electrical connections.
2.
Remove wiper arm retaining nuts and wiper arms.
3.
Open engine hood and remove the four plastic cowl retaining clips. Later models have retaining screws.
4.
Remove the cowl and the four wiper link retaining nuts.
5.
Remove the Windshield washer tank.
6.
Remove the three wiper motor retaining bolts.
7.
Remove the wiper motor and link assembly.
8.
Reverse procedure to install.
Rear
1.
Remove back door inner trim.
2.
Remove the wiper arm from the shaft.
3.
Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connections.
4.
Remove wiper motor retaining bolts and motor.
5.
Reverse procedure to install.
XT COUPE
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, remove plugs securing cowl cover and pull back cover.
2.
Disconnect wiper motor electrical connector.
3.
Remove wiper motor mounting bolts.
4.
Remove fasteners securing transmission, disconnect transmission and remove wiper motor.
5.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque transmission mounting bolts to 4.7-6.9 ft.lbs., transmission to motor mounting nut to 16-22 ft.lbs., and wiper
motor retaining bolts to 3.3-5.4 ft.lbs.
