SUBARU AUDIO SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES
In the event you encounter a customer complaint related to the vehicle's audio system, the following diagnostic guides will be helpful in identifying the
cause.
The Subaru Audio Diagnostic Report will assist the Technician in the diagnosis of an audio system related complaint. The preliminary information, such
as owner's name, vehicle VIN and specific customer complaint should be completed by the Service Advisor. This will enable the Technician to check
specific areas in order to isolate the cause.
In many instances a audio chassis is erroneously exchanged in an attempt to correct a malfunction of the system. It is critical that all other areas be
checked prior to exchanging the unit. Customer awareness of proper system operations and maintenance, such as cassette cleaning, are also important.
Warranty/Flat Rate Information
A copy of the Subaru Audio Diagnostic Report must be completed and retained by the dealer for all Warranty claims related to the Audio System. This
applies whether the audio unit is exchanged or not. If the audio chassis is exchanged, a completed report copy must be included with the return unit.
Testing and diagnosis of the Audio System may be claimed under the terms of the Limited Subaru Warranty using the following operations:
Refer to Subaru Warranty Bulletin No. 91-04-01 for audio chassis identification and further Warranty information.
