1.
Disconnect PCV hose.
2.
Remove valve cover.
3.
Loosen valve rocker assembly bolt No. 1 as shown Fig. 36. Do not remove bolt at this time.
4.
Remove remainder of valve rocker assembly bolts in numerical order as shown Fig. 36. Use caution not to gouge dowel pin.
5.
Remove bolt No. 1 and the rocker assembly. Position rocker arms with air vents facing upward.
6.
Remove rocker shaft retaining bolts, rocker arms, springs and shaft supports from rocker shaft. Position rocker arms with air vents facing upward.
Separate valve lash adjuster from valve rocker only if air bleeding or replacement is required. keep all parts in order of removal for proper
installation.
7.
Bleed valve lash adjuster as follows:
a. Submerge lash adjuster in a container of clean engine oil, then press check ball inward using a .08 inch diameter round bar.
b. While holding check ball inward, manually move plunger up and down at one second intervals until air bubbles disappear.
c. Release check ball and quickly push plunger in and lock it. Replace lash adjuster if plunger will not lock. Allow valve lash adjuster to soak
in engine oil until it is to be installed.

Dip lash adjuster and rocker arm in clean engine oil and assemble them. Fill rocker arm oil reservoir chamber with clean engine oil. Carefully
install a new valve lash adjuster O-ring so as not to scratch it. Do not rotate lash adjuster during installation.
9.
Insert rocker shaft into rocker arms, springs and shaft supports in same order as which they were removed. Ensure cutout portion of rocker shaft
faces oil holes in shaft supports.
10.
Align rocker shaft lock holes and install retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to specifications.

11.
Install valve rocker assembly. Equally tighten rocker assembly bolts 1 through 4 as shown Fig. 37. Use caution not to gouge dowel pin.
12.
Torque rocker assembly bolts 5 through 8, then bolts 1 through 4 to specifications as shown Fig. 37.
13.
Install rocker cover. Tighten bolts to specifications.
14.
Install PCV valve.
