Pressure Regulating Solenoid: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
Controlled by transmission control module (TCU) to regulate ATF pressure. This is a duty cycle type solenoid referred to by Subaru as Duty
Solenoid A.
LOCATION
Mounted on control valve inside transmission.
OPERATION
The solenoid is turned ON/OFF at 50 Hz (0.02 sec period) according to signals sent by the TCU to open/close the drain circuit, thereby controlling
oil pressure to a specified level.
This duty cycle type solenoid is capable of controlling the ON/OFF time ratio in one cycle over the entire range from 0 to 100%. For example, a
duty ratio of 50 means 0.01 second of ON period and 0.01 second of OFF period in one cycle of 0.02 second.
