The TCM changes its gear shift control pattern automatically between the Base pattern suitable for ordinary economy driving and the Power pattern
suitable for climbing uphill or rapid acceleration.
In the Power pattern, the downshift point and upshift point are set higher than those of the Base pattern.
1. BASE TO POWER PATTERN CHANGEOVER
The TCM haste matrix cells corresponding different throttle opening and vehicle speeds, as shown below. Each cell is given a specific accelerator
depression speed at which a Base to Power pattern changeover should occur.
When the accelerator depression speed exceeds the value given for any of the cells, the TCM selects the Power pattern.
