b) Loosen the lock nut using ST 34199A1050.

c) Remove the lock nut, adjusting screw; spring and pressure pad from the gear box.

d) Thoroughly clean the adjusting screw and surrounding surface on the steering gearbox to remove any dirt, grease or old sealer. Apply a small

amount of Three Bond 1215 (SOA # 004403007) to the adjusting screw threads and spread around by hand.

Note:

Use only Three Bond 1215 (SOA# 004403007). Use of other sealing products will affect reinstallation of adjusting screw.

e) Apply a coat of grease to the sliding surface of the pressure pad and the seating surface of spring, and then insert the pressure pad into steering

gear box.

f) Fill the inside of the adjusting screw with grease and insert the spring into the adjusting screw.

g) Install the adjusting screw and new spring into the gear box and tighten the adjusting screw to the specified value, then loosen it one rotation.

Tightening Torque: 10 N.m (1.0 kgf-m, 7.4 ft-lb).

h) Tighten the adjusting screw to the specified value.

Tightening Torque: 6 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)

i)

Reinstall the lock nut and tighten by hand.

j) Use a socket to hold the adjusting screw in place to prevent it from turning while tightening the lock nut with ST 34199A1050.

Note:

if the adjusting screw has moved~ the procedure will need to be performed again from the beginning.
