Throttle Body: Description and Operation
Throttle Body
PURPOSE
Provides a means of controlling throttle valve opening (engine speed) and supplies ported vacuum source(s).
LOCATION
On the back of the intake manifold.
OPERATION
When the throttle pedal is depressed, the cable opens the valve. This allows intake air to enter the engine, thereby increasing engine speed.
CONSTRUCTION
Twin bores with a by-pass air control valve (used to control idle speed), water passages and ported vacuum sources.
