Water Pump: Service and Repair

Fig. 71  Water Pump Assembly

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Drain cooling system. Refer to Cooling System/Service and Repair.

3.

Disconnect radiator outlet hose.

4.

Disconnect air vent tube.

5.

Remove A/C pulsar assembly.

6.

Remove drive belt(s). Refer to DRIVE BELT.

7.

Remove A/C compressor, alternator and bracket.

8.

Disconnect water pipe bypass hose and water pipe.

9.

Remove water pump pulley.

10.

Remove crankshaft pulley using stopper tools Nos. 498227700 or 498497000 or equivalent.

11.

Remove timing belt covers.

12.

Remove water pump retaining bolts, Fig. 71, and the pump.

13.

Reverse procedure to install. Tighten bolts to specifications.
