Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
Controls fuel pump operation.
LOCATION
Behind center console ash tray (brown connector).
OPERATION
The ECU energizes the fuel pump relay based on inputs from the ignition switch and ignition coil. During cranking, the ignition switch cranking
circuit supplies current to energize the fuel pump relay. After engine starts and ignition switch assumes "RUN" position, the ECU provides the
ground circuit for the fuel pump relay. A faulty fuel pump relay does not set a trouble code in the on-board diagnostic system.
