Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection

Drive Belt Inspection

WARNING:  Disconnect negative cable at battery before checking and adjusting belt tension.

Generator Belt

1. Remove engine under cover of right side from vehicle body. 
2. Inspect belt (1) for cracks, cuts, deformation, wear and cleanliness. If any conditions are found, replace generator belt. 

Tensioner

1. Remove air cleaner case with air cleaner outlet hose. 

2. Check belt for tension using mirror under enough lighting as follows.

[Type A] 
Check to make sure that tension indicator points within (a) of the figure by using mirror. If the indicator comes to (c) out of (a) passing (b), replace
generator belt.

[Type B]
Tension indicator "B" should be to the right of indicator "A" as shown in figure. If indicator "B" is found to the left of indicator "A", replace
generator belt.
