Wheel Hub: Service and Repair
Hub and Knuckle Replace
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove brake drum and spindle cap.
3. Remove spindle nut and washer, then pull off wheel hub using puller tools No. 09943-17912 and No. 09942-15510, or equivalents.
4. Disconnect and plug brake hose to wheel cylinder.
5. On models with ABS, remove wheel speed sensor.
6. Remove brake backing plate from knuckle.
7. Loosen control rod outer bolts, trailing rod rear bolt and strut bracket nuts.
8. Disconnect control rods from knuckle.

9. Disconnect trailing rod from knuckle, then remove knuckle from strut, Fig. 5.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply sealant No. 99000-31090, or equivalent, to mating surfaces of brake back plate and knuckle.
b. Install new spindle nut.
c. Tighten to specification.
d. Bleed brake system.
