Canister Purge Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from vacuum pipes.
2. With ignition switch ON, blow into hose "A". Air should not come out of hose "B".
3. If you have SUZUKI scan tool, perform Step a) (using SUZUKI scan tool). If not, perform Step b) (not using SUZUKI scan tool).
a. Using SUZUKI scan tool
i.
Connect SUZUKI scan tool (1) to DLC (2) with ignition switch OFF.
ii. Turn ON EVAP canister purge valve by using SUZUKI scan tool with ignition switch ON.
iii. With step ii) condition, blow hose "A" from arrow as shown in the figure.
iv. If air should come out of hose "B", EVAP canister purge valve and its circuit are in good condition and reconnect vacuum hoses to vacuum
pipes securely. If not, proceed to Step 4).
WARNING: Do not suck the air through valve. Fuel vapor inside valve is harmful.
b. Not using SUZUKI scan tool
i.
Using service wire, connect C51-3-1 terminal of ECM (PCM) coupler and body ground with ignition switch OFF.
ii. With ignition switch ON, blow hose "A" from the arrow as shown in the figure.
iii. It air should come out of hose "B", C51-3-1 terminal to ECM (PCM) connection, EVAP canister purge valve and its circuit are in good
condition and reconnect vacuum hoses to vacuum pipes securely.
If not, proceed to Step 4).
WARNING: Do not suck the air through valve. Fuel vapor inside valve is harmful.
4. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect coupler from EVAP canister purge valve.
