Steering Angle Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Torque Sensor Inspection
Torque Sensor Inspection
Using SUZUKI Scan Tool
1) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC located on underside of instrument panel at driver's seat side.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON".
3) Turn steering wheel fully clockwise and counterclockwise and check "Sensor (Main) Torque" and "Sensor (Sub) Torque" displayed on SUZUKI
scan tool by selecting scan tool "Data list" mode. If check result is not as specified, perform Steps 4) to 7).
Sensor torque
Approx. -11 Nm (-1.1 kgf-m, -8.5 lbf-ft) to 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)
4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "OFF".
5) Separate steering lower shaft and steering gear case.
6) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
7) Turn pinion shaft (steering gear case) to check "Sensor (Main) Torque" and "Sensor (Sub) Torque" displayed on SUZUKI scan tool. If check
result is not as specified, replace steering gear case.
Sensor torque
Approx. -11 Nm (-1.1 kgf-m, -8.5 lbf-ft) to 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.5 lbf-ft)
Using Voltmeter
1) Remove following parts.
^
Instrument panel undercover, center console box, side sill inner front scuff and dash side trim.
2) Turn over floor carpet on passenger's side.
3) Remove P/S control module cover.
4) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to "ON".
5) Measure voltage between terminals "2" - "8" and "7" - "8" of P/S control module "rotation angle sensor/torque sensor" connector (1). If check
result is not as specified, replace steering gear case.
Torque sensor voltage
Between terminals "2" - "8": 2.5 ± 0.127 V
Between terminals "7" - "8": 2.5 ± 0.127 V
