Water Pump: Service and Repair

Drain cooling system.

Remove radiator shroud attaching bolts and cooling fan assembly attaching bolts, then radiator shroud and cooling fan as an assembly.
3.
Loosen water pump drive belt tensioner, then remove water pump pulley and drive belt.
4.
Remove four crankshaft pulley attaching bolts, Fig. 1, then the crankshaft pulley. It is not necessary to loosen crankshaft pulley center bolt,

Loosen tensioner bolt and stud, Fig. 7, then push up on tensioner plate and remove belt from crankshaft timing belt pulley and camshaft pulley.
6.
Remove timing belt tensioner, plate and spring.
7.
Remove water pump attaching bolts, then water pump.
8.
Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque water pump bolts to 7-8.5 ft. lbs.
b. Refer to ``Timing Belt, Replace'' to ensure timing belt is correctly installed.
