SUBJECT:

TOWING WITH AUTOMATIC FREE-WHEELING HUBS

MODEL:

SAMURAI

YEAR:

ALL

When installing Automatic Free-wheeling hubs to a Samurai vehicle, verify that the customer understands the proper towing procedure as stated in the
Samurai Owner's Manual under recreational towing. Failure to follow this procedure could seriously damage the vehicle drivetrain.

Explanation When the transfer lever is shifted into neutral (N) for towing, the front and rear drive shafts are connected through the transfer case. If the
vehicle is towed from the front with the rear wheels on the ground, the rotation of the war drive shaft will also cause the front drive shaft to turn. This, in
turn, will cause the automatic free-wheeling hubs to lock. Towing the vehicle with the front hubs locked will result in damage to the transfer case or other
drivetrain components.

Please review the above information with all Dealership personnel involved.
