CONDITION:

Rattling noise in the upper dash/cowl area while driving on rough roads.

If the hood is closed with a folded shop towel placed under the hood hinge the rattling noise goes away.
CAUTION:

DO NOT damage the hood or cowl panel with too great of a towel thickness.

CAUSE:

Excessive play between the hood hinge pin and hinge bracket (see Illustration).

CORRECTION:

Use a center punch to tighten the hinge from the botton side (see Illustration). Lubricate the hinge with a paint-safe lubricant and touch up the punch
marks.
