CHECKING THE BRAKE DRUMS
A.
Visually inspect the rear drums for damage such as cracks, scoring, and deep grooves.
B.
Measure the drum diameter in three (3) or more points around the brake drum to confirm that the inside diameter does not exceed the
service limits and that the drum is not out of round.
C.
Measure the drum for taper by measuring the inside, middle, and outside of the brake shoe contact surface of the drum. Measure at three (3)
or more points around the drum to confirm that the drum is not tapered and within the service limits.
