Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Testing and Inspection

Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Disconnect thermo switch connector from thermo switch.
3.
Remove switch from vehicle.
4.
Immerse switch in silicon oil or glycerin in up to level shown in Fig. 4, then connect suitable ohmmeter.
5.
On Sidekick, note if there is continuity (switch open) with temperature of liquid above 235°F. On Swift, note if there is continuity (switch open)
with temperature of liquid above 226°F.
6.
On all models, if specifications are not as noted, replace switch.
