Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
Kick-Down Cable Adjustment (A/T Only)

 Prior to adjusting the kick-down cable, ensure accelerator cable play is adjusted as specified under ``Accelerator Cable Play, Adjust.''

1.

Loosen the kick-down cable adjusting nut and locknut, Fig. 154.

2.

Depress accelerator pedal fully, and pull kick-down cable in direction A as shown in Fig. 154.

3.

Adjust bracket to locknut clearance to 0--0.039 inch by turning the locknut. Ensure adjusting nut doesn't contact bracket.

4.

Release accelerator pedal.

5.

Adjust bracket to locknut clearance to 0--0.039 inch by tightening the adjusting nut.

Position adjusting nut as represented by the dotted line in Fig. 155. Ensure the nut turns smoothly.

7.

Seat adjusting nut to bracket as represented by the solid line in Fig. 155.

8.

Tighten locknut securely.
