Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

Before removing joints at inlet and outlet ports clean fitting thoroughly.
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then water reservoir tank from radiator.
2.
On models with air conditioning, loosen A/C compressor adjusting bolt and pivot bolts.
3.
On models less air conditioning, loosen power steering pump adjusting and mounting bolts.
4.
Remove power steering belt.
5.
Remove union bolt. Hold discharge connector with wrench to prevent fluid from draining, Fig. 23.
6.
Disconnect pump suction hose from oil tank, the pump pressure switch lead wire at switch terminal.
7.
Remove engine oil filter, then pump adjusting and mounting bolts.
8.
Remove power steering pump. Plug ports to prevent any foreign matter from entering.
9.
Reverse procedure to install, torquing all fittings, bolts/nuts to specifications.
