Shift Interlock Cable: Adjustments

Fig. 14  Adjusting Back Drive Cable

1. Turn ignition switch to Accessory position.
2. Loosen cable nut in selector and remove cable from bracket. Do not remove cable from back drive cam.
3. Shift selector to Park position and push in and hold push button, Fig. 14. Bring adjust nut in alignment with bracket surface.
4. Release push button and inscribe mark on adjust nut.
5. Turn adjust nut one full rotation inward and fix cable to bracket by tightening lock nut.
6. Check the following:

a. Key cannot be turned to Lock position when select lever is in any other position than Park. Key can be turned to On or Accessory positions.
b. Select lever cannot be shifted from Park to other positions when key is in Lock position or when it is not in key slot.
